We just returned from a weekend escape in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Even though it was a short trip, we were lucky enough to get a healthy dose of quality time with old friends, good family, and one roasted pig.
Jump down to check out all the fun...
Our first stop was a long-overdue visit to a favorite aunt & uncle and their Rocky Mountain garden. The half-wild garden slopes down and around the house, displaying everything from pansies and ferns to wild berries and one hearty tomato plant. Yet we had to keep our voices down because we didn't want to scare the feral flamingos back into the aspen trees.
Our next Steamboat event, and the true reason we made the trip, was our friends' 7th Annual Pig Roast & Horseshoe Tournament. This was the first year we were able to make it out but it certainly won't be the last. An afternoon-to-the-wee-hours kind of shindig, the PR/HT was bursting with dusty children, cold beer, lazy dogs, nostalgia, and one sad but delicious pig.
Even though we were technically on vacation and we tried to fight the urge, the AT influence snuck back in.
We spent a good portion of the evening trying to convince our gracious host how his little blue shed out back would make one marvelous lofted guest suite.
