What: Rectangular grey tile with a convex-arched profile.
Where: A bathroom showroom in IKEA Brooklyn.
Why: The warm, pale grey tile is simple and minimal, with a tiny twist — can you tell from the photograph that this tile is convexly arched? The subtle profile of the tile instantly adds a richness to the neutral space. More pictures after the jump...

Is there a proper name for this type of tile? In our research, different manufacturers have very different names for sculptural profile tile. Anyone?

Does anyone know where I can this? I wonder how this will work as a kitchen backsplash.
pretty cool... i bet it would look awesomely quilted without grout.
Geez - from the title, I thought IKEA was starting to sell tile...
I believe this shape is called "pillow-cut" tile.
Does anyone have any experience with the actual sink and faucet? I've been eyeing it for awhile, contemplating it for one of the 5 X 8 bathroom remodels I'm about to embark on.
Two thumbs up.
I love the 3D effect.
Have you ever seen Daniel Ogassian's tile at http://www.ogassian.com? His designs are amazing.
He did this custom tile design for a bathroom with Ilan Dei and the concrete tile on the walls creates an optical illusion: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4049/4479212635_52328a9feb_o.jpg
