We recently put a set of orange sheets on our bed. On climbing into bed and fluffing the sheets up over us, something alltogether unanticipated happened. We were instantly transported back to 2005. Why?:

The orange sheets with lamplight coming through them took us straight back to the 2005 installation of The Gates in Central Park. The work, by Christo and Jeanne Claude, entailed walkway upon walkway framed by billowing saffron "sheets" on equally bright orange gateways.
In a flash, we were back at The Gates as the simple orange bedsheet fell down around us. If you were there in 2005 and loved it like us, we can definitely recommend picking up a set of solid orange sheets for a fun flashback. Go with a light cotton that will billow and cast a saffron tone through them. Here are a few sources:

I just saw an ad on TV for AT&T where they drape various landmarks in orange sheets. There is a disclaimer at the end referencing Christo and Jeanne Claude, but it was gone so fast I couldn't read the whole thing.
it wasn't "orange" it was "saffron". LOL
oh and the disclaimer states they have nothing to do with AT&T.
I was sad to here of Jeanne Claude's passing. The documentary about the Gates, is more than anything, about the long and deep love affair between Christo and Jeanne Claude.
Oh right, The Gates, I thought you had sensory overload from looking at a bright color, became disoriented and thought it was 2005.
Orange is hot! It's this summer's green. ;->
In 2005, I was 19 and working in an art magazine, that's how I first heard of Jeanne Claude and Christo. The Gates is probably something I will remember for a long time even though I wasn't there. Thanks for putting me in mind of that!
I will always remember seeing Christo's pink islands when I was growing up in Miami. Maybe I should get some pink cellophane sheets? LOL.
it's so odd to think of 2005 as being significantly in the past.
The flashback I was having was to the '70s, what with the bright white, orange, and wicker in that room. Not that that's a bad thing--I love wicker and I love bright colors. :)
There are orange sheets on my bed right now! They're my favorite set, the way the reflect the light is so warm and summery and yummy.
Orange was late '90s... along with that neon green.
I dressed my bed orange for this beautiful weather we're having.
I love the bed itself!! Does anyone know where to get one or how to make one like this? I can see that the platform part of the bed is like 2 inches thick and it looks like it only has the leg boards and the platform but I can't figure out how it could be very stable if those are the only two parts. Help!!
