In extremely expensive cities like New York, small hotel rooms that still put you right in the thick of it can be a hot commodity. It keeps your accommodation costs relatively low while retaining some luxuries (albeit in an 8'x10' space)...

The Pod is one such accommodation. The hotel, on E. 51st Street, is situated in the middle of the city and offers rooms as small as sleeper cabins with bunks. Single through queen rooms are also available, though all are compact with storage at a premium.

The Jane is located in a building that was originally meant for accommodating sailors in rooms sized like ship cabins. Now, the Jane Street building in the West Village is perfect for travelers seeking a perfect location and willing to sacrifice on space (much like those of us who actually live here!).

See more on both hotels at The Pod and The Jane.
