Maintaining a clutter-free desk, workstation, and home office can be a challenge for many people. It's great to clean up, but it doesn't take long for things to become cluttered again. Here are our tips on remaining clutter-free and to ensure that you won't need a clean sweep anytime soon.
If you've got a big, cluttered desk that you can never keep uncluttered or clean, then an easy trick is to simply use a smaller desk. Yes, smaller desks don't have that much desk real estate, but as such, they are much easier to keep clean. If one small desk isn't enough, try replacing a large desk by two smaller ones, one for a computer workstation, and one for working with paper and books.
1. Purging Weekly
Clutter can become quite manageable in the home office if you remember that the trashcan is your friend. Don't be afraid to just throw stuff away. That will reduce your clutter significantly.
2. Don't Forget to Dust
Dust can accumulate quite quickly. It's always surprising at the size of those dust bunnies. Get rid of them with a quick sweep of the broom or a quick vacuum.
3. Desks Get Dirty Too
Wiping your desk clean will make is smell all nice and clean, and get rid of those germs. Desks get dirty quickly, especially if you use them a lot.
5. Stay On Top of Document Piles
You know how it is, piles just start appearing everywhere. Before you know it, you don't have any desk space left because of all of the piles of documents. Stay on top of the paperwork and clear it off as soon as possible.
