Is this what your luggage looks like when you're taking the kids with you for a long weekend? If so, you may need some tips about packing light. Rachel of Small Notebook only packed what you see in this photo when traveling with her 2 kids. Abroad. For 3 months. So what are her tips for packing light?
Rachel says you have to pack smart when traveling with young kids. For the younger set, she recommends a light stroller so your hands can remain relatively free. She recommends bringing a portable high chair seat. When packing the kids' clothes, Rachel used zip up pouches so their clothes weren't lost and messy in the larger suitcase. She even packed an entire suitcase of food. But even if your family doesn't, it's always a good idea to bring plenty of familiar snacks and staples in case nothing is open when you arrive or your flight is delayed. For her complete write-up of tips to follow, check out her blog Small Notebook.

I love Rachel's blog!
I want to pack light for 3 months abroad :D
Great tips!
That looks about right for three months. If you have access to washing and drying, that seems more than ample.
put everything you think you need out on the floor/bed. Put half of it away.
Put half of it away again, now you should have the essentials.
I am a big fan of the ziplock bag method. I have never used a stroller, get a papoose, once the child is walking, make them carry a bag with their toys in, walking around the airport carrying their own bag will wear them out making for a sleepy child on the plane. I also try and book the flights at night so the child's body clock kicks in so they are naturally sleepy on the flight.
