With spring-cleaning around the corner my closet is the one thing I am truly dreading tackling. While the rest of my apartment is nearly always company ready, I tend to worry less about what is behind closed doors until it gets a bit out of control.
A few standout pieces of advice from the spread include:
• Invest in drawer dividers like these from the Container Store to keep your lingerie drawer neatly organized
• Use library style dividers to keep purses standing upright on a shelf.

Totally stealing the library shelf organizer idea for keeping purses upright. I use those little pop led lights in my closet, and love them!
I saw this article too...and immediately assumed it would be the same repeated closet org info. I did pick up a tidbit that I hadnt thought of...hanger size! I have been using the wooden ones (ie. Ikea) and never really thought about how much space they could be taking up. I will be selling all of mine (about 100) by months end replacing with these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037KMSQE/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
I go back and forth on the hanger size issue - I have the large wooden hangers, and I also got some of the slim velvet ones in a camel color. I like my clothes to "breathe" a little, so the wooden ones actually work out nicely for that, and it makes it easier to see what's in the closet. But I also have way too many clothes....what to do, what to do...
Does anyone know where that rug is from or where I can find a similar one? I love that color.
Sigh. I already do all those things, except the scarf-hanging business, because if I put them through a tiny hole in a wooden hanger and then knotted them "loosely" to hold them in place, all my giant squares would be creased from the get-go.
I need genius-level scarf storage ideas besides "own a giant dresser with 150 four-inch cubicles."
I organized my closet last night (although I did so on a $0 budget - I WISH I could do more of this stuff). It feels so much better, even though I don't see it all the time.
I put my scarves in one of those reusable cloth bags for wine (like a regular reusable bag divided into 6/compartments). I have a couple of them for this actually... it works well and allows me to see my scarves while keeping them contained. I stack the bags on their side on closet shelf for easy viewing, but I suppose you could use them upright, or however you want.
Love this! What great ideas! I'm inspired to tackle my closet!
I have my scarves in a cloth box as well, but right now they're all swirled together, not organized. Ideally I'd like a stack of drafting-type flat files to lay them out in, because even carefully and loosely folded, they develop creases after a while.
Erin0210, I also want to know where that rug is from. I love that pattern and color!
@pythia
Use a flat-file for your scarves? Or on the cheaper (?) end, something like the alex. You can shove it in your closet and hang shorter jackets/shirts over it.
Sorry, but it is "its" not "it's" in the first sentence.
Does anyone know where to find the luggage in the first pic? It looks like the Globe Trotter luggage I so desperately want and woefully cannot afford.
@try2cope It looks like http://www.steamlineluggage.com/ to me!
I hang scarves on pants hangers, a few per hangar, keeps them draped flat or folded once (depends on shape) but I don't have all that many.
I'm not sure anyone is looking at this post anymore, but was anyone able to figure out where the teal rug is from?
