Every year I try to decorate our fireplace for each holiday that comes around. Life gets busy sometimes and it doesn't always happen, but my goal is to decorate for the major holidays every year. My oldest son (7) has taken a particular interest in these holiday vignettes and is often thinking forward to what holiday is coming next! He's always brainstorming ideas and I certainly want to support his creativity and enthusiasm. This year, he got a head start on the Valentine's vignette, pretty much the day after the Christmas decor came down. He was already sketching and coloring hearts and cutting them out to adhere to the brick (you can see some of them in the photo above!). So seriously cute. Find out how to make your own below:
I was trying to think of a new idea for the Valentine's vignette this year and tissue paper came to mind and all of the gorgeous fringe elements I've seen pop up in fashion and and decor (the gorgeous works from the much talked about Confetti System certainly came to mind!) So a tissue paper fringe heart it was. Here's a how-to so you can make your own!
• various colors of tissue paper (I used red, fuschia and pale pink)
• double sided tape and/or glue
• white paper

I used double sided tape to layer my strips (easier and less messy than white glue, but if you don't have double sided tape, glue works fine)
