What is a favorite tableware choice for baby in our household? It's Papa's camping gear. We use titanium camping dishes from time to time, especially when baby is self-feeding.
We're trying to avoid plastic as much as possible and we're not ready for ceramic when unsupervised. Titanium is lightweight, won't break and doesn't leave an after taste. Our titanium set came from REI (a plate also is available). Titanium is expensive because it is very lightweight but you could use stainless steel as well which costs a bit less.

Because I am often frazzled by dinnertime, I have to ask: Is camping gear really loud when a toddler drops it (or throws it, or uses it as a percussion instrument)? That's kind of a deal-breaker for me.
I was thinking the same thing. I suffer from migranes so tinny high-pitched noises kill me.
