Semigood, if you are going to charge a cool K for your mailbox, you should re-think the blatant photoshopped ad media.

Now I have resisted the urge to comment on numerous postings in regards to our products (for those who know me, you know how difficult this one has been), but this last comment really has me confused.
Not only have we never photoshopped an ad, but there is not one single photoshopped photograph on our website (other than color correction). We put a lot of effort into our ad campaigns by being honest in our practices and true to our personalities. I don't want to make anyone feel like they do not have the right to their opinions, but spreading falsifications about our company or anyone else's is just in poor taste. If Eric would care to elaborate on why he feels we are misleading our consumer, I would be happy to hear about it, but at the end of the day our photographs may look too good to be true, but they are 100% real.

Really like the box a great deal---BUT---I do not see why this is 1K and that cool table on AT today that folds up is only $250. Everyone thought that table was way to costly!

I find that odd for a mailbox.

it's probably not that it can't take the exposure, but look at it this way: these guys make wood look good. but wood is wood and weather isn't kind to it. even ipe and teak take on a "patina" in short order which also warps/swells the wood a bit... so, i'd not subject any wooden mailbox to direct exposure (nor i wouldn't expect a watertight aluminum mailbox from a woodworker)... and at my house, my crappy neo-colonial mailbox is well-protected in the entryway.

wow i have been looking for a cool mailbox myself and this takes the prize. man.. wish it was affordable! maybe can DIY something like this....

but then again, some idiots here love to dessimate mailboxes... (as in, put home-made ice bombs in the mailboxes to create a bit of weekend fun)

I'd love to see some AT DIYers attempt a version of this on their own. It's a lovely piece, but I bet one could make a nice relative of this mailbox for less than a thousand dollars. Why not source some wood pallets and use those for materials?

Oh my gosh! I am so sorry. My first bitchy AT comment and I totally blow it. If I worked hard on a product like you obviously do, I would feel the need to defend myself as well. If it's not photoshopped, I take it back! I take it baaaaaacckk!

A thousand dollars.... for a mailbox????

I don't think the AT blogger is suggesting that most readers of this blog will be rushing out to buy these. Or should. I think it was posted simply as a thing of unattainable beauty, as one would show a Rothko painting.

But I wonder if these are selling well out there in The Real World. I wouldn't be surprised if they were. I have a theory that, as a Nation, we are far too wealthy. And good common sense is not a harbinger of wealth. Many of the trinkets I see on this site, like this one, drive that point home. Children in our communities may be hungry, but we really really need $1,000 mailbox or footstool or light fixture.

Of course, I have no plans to chase the moneychangers from the Temple; I would overcharge for my art as well. There's a sucker born every day. They're out there; there's no reason not to take advantage of them, huh? If you don't, somebody else will, huh?. Ethics may be great, but a buck is a buck, huh?

I wonder if Fullygood could charge $2000 for one? Hmmmm..., I sense a business oppportunity....

Just to get the comments back on the subject of mailboxes, I actually had the pleasure of mailbox shopping recently. I'm not into everything at Chiasso, but man, they have the best mailbox selection around. My postal carrier, Andy, says I have the coolest mailbox on his route.
