While some of the decor is vintage or from national retailers (the throw pillows from Anthropologie aren't for sale), much of it is made by local artisans from the Southern California area, like the orange wire Bend chairs by L.A. designer Gaurav Nanda ($360 to $398) and pendant lights by Del Mar artist Jennifer Price ($230 to $420). Diners can also select smaller items ranging from cutting boards to wall sinks. They're all listed on a special menu at the host stand. Simply place your order and expect delivery a few weeks later. (Read more about what's for sale in the LA Times.)
I really dig this idea! What do you think?

Shaw's Original Fir...
I think that this is the future. Online shopping will reduce brick and mortar stores, so for display purposes stores will collaborate with places people still go like restaurants.
I read somewhere that Anthro is the largest seller of vintage furniture in the US, basically all the display furniture in their stores.
I've thought of doing this before! Like, having a coffee shop which is also sort of a vintage boutique and all the furniture and so forth could be purchased... because antique stores make no money but if it was also a coffee shop it might do ok. (Mostly I just want to be able to shop for furniture that can't fit in my house.)
i love this concept
There is a restaurant in Dallas called Rise No 1 that does the same thing!! You can even buy the flatware, napkins, etc.
I wish everyplace did this. I really only want to buy dining chairs that I've tested for 2+ hours!
There's a densely decorated tea room near here that sells their antique knick knacks directly, but the new merchandise described in the post would interest me more. My favorite restaurants have some lovely pendant lighting over the tables, even some wall paint colors, that I'd be interested in buying.
same- i've had this idea as well, but for a coffee shop/bakery (like anna lisa- which by the way was also my grandma's name!)- but i could see it being a tone of work if the originals are being sold- it means people have to move the furniture after hours in order to not disturb the customers who are actually dinning- but in this case, they order the furniture so the originals can stay-put. quite a simple concept really- and it works!
