From our little experiment yesterday, we noticed that not many of you use the tops of your toilet tanks for storage space. While we respect no-clutter zones, the reality of a small bathroom is that the top of a toilet tank is a perfect place to stash candles, tissue boxes, clocks, and more. But you'll need a tank-sized tray.
Here are some options to help organize that small bathroom:
• 1 Format tank tray, $19.95 from CB2
• 2 Bamboo tray, $14.95 from Crate and Barrel
• 3 Glass accessories tray, $39.99 from Pottery Barn
• 4 Zen aluminum tray, $19.99 at The Container Store
• 5 Nantucket Tank Top Tray, $26.50 from Basketville

Here's a nice combo of bamboo with clear plastic sides:
www.storables.com In bath items: "formbu collection" includes a tank top tray, 16"x6", for 12.95.
I really like mine, perfect fit, no wobblies....I did coat the bamboo with an extra bit of clear finish, even though it says it is waterproof....
If the top of the tank is rounded, the Ikea Lidan rectangle storage basket is great.

Looks like only the smaller (10") PB tray is available.
I actually use a tray intended for paper guest towels: it's white ceramic with a silver railing around three-and-a-half sides. I found it at target for cheap and it totally vibed with the Deco feel of my 1920s space. You can google image "guest towel tray" for some ideas.
Nah... with kids in the house, anything on the back of the toilet is inevitably going to end up *inside* the toilet... not worth the extra storage space IMO!
Oooh good post, I was actually thinking of looking around for one of these. I think I need something with slightly higher sides though. I want it to hide the extra TP.
I'm not a fan of storage on the tank -it gets knocked off and if something goes wrong it's a pain to get the lid off with all of the 'stuff'. I prefer a small glass shelf -also avail. at west elm - mounted up above the toilet -or at my house thats where my medicine chest is.
