The steel Tolix A Chair is definitely not just for bistros anymore. Also known as the Marais AC Chaise, it’s one those timeless, versatile pieces that seem to work anywhere. It’s made for indoor or outdoor use and comes in a variety of bright colors or brushed steel. They can also be stacked if you’re tight on space.
Designed by the French company Tolix in the 1930's, they’re still hand crafted in France but the good news is you don't have to cross the Atlantic to get one. They're available stateside from these sources:
the Conran Shop
DWR Sundance
Atiquaire
Pottery Barn
They cost around $200 but prices do vary and occasionally there are special offers such as for multiple purchases, so it's wise to shop around.

The stools are also gorgeous: http://www.dwr.com/product/outdoor/collections/marais/marais-stool-30-in.do?sortby=ourPicks
Vagabond Vintage also has a little more decorative one - and I think it is a little cheaper.

However I like the straightedges of the post above.
Love the chairs. I wonder if I can get one on casters for behind my work table.
Apicciri: I just noticed that Vagabond Vintage and Mothology have the exact same products using the exact same photos in the exact same website colors. It's too much to be a coincidence. I wonder what gives.

SillyBee: That is so strange.... I worked for a showroom that repped Vagabond a few years ago and I never knew that. I wish I was a detective.
Apricciri: That sounds like a neat job. But yeah, it makes me wonder how many other companies have multiple storefronts or whatever it is that's going on.
Yeah, I'm very fond of these, but can't justify the price in the midst of a renovation. Not to mention i'd need eight to fill the big dining space I'm building.
has anyone purchased from Sundance? they won't tell you the manufacturer, and i am just wondering if they are actually Tolix.... thanks!
Check out Antiquaire:

They are the best! I have had the best experience ordering from them and you can get any model from Tolix in any color imaginable and you are not stuck choosing from the sale old Pottery Barn colors.
As for Sundance...not sure about them either so that's why I didn't order from them. You would think that if it really was Tolix they would say it.
And here is a shop that has vintage tolix chairs
Hi Ghankerson:
Those white vintage chairs you refer to in the link are NOT really vintage. Those are NEW chairs that someone sanded...How do I know...because Tolix did not start stamping their name on the back of their chairs until 2000...look it up!
Here are the REAL vintage chairs:
