White Enamel Flatwa...
I have no idea why there is a post about toothbrushes on a design website-
BUT the lavender lotion in the back is from a place called http://www.farmaesthetics.com/ and it is amazing. Helps me sleep, keeps the baby's skin soft and totally natural.
Not a sales person, just love the company and their products!
Y'all know Philippe Stark did design a toothbrush, right?
The big toothbrush made me smile. My boss at my first editorial job had a similarly scaled pencil resting in the corner of her office. When she left, she handed off the big pencil to the person who was being promoted into her job--I remember looking up from my desk and seeing her carrying the big pencil down the hall...
That said, don't think I'd want a big toothbrush in my bathroom. And a couple of the toothbrushes in the pix (#3 and 4) are kind of icky looking.
toothbrushes? really? can't wait for pics of "dirty dishes in sink"; "full trash can" and an all time favorite: "folded laundry in basket".
sorry, just don't see a toothbrush as a design element...call me jaded.
I think that's the point of the post, friend2canines and jennacvm - that you might not think that it is, but it totally can be. I mean, if a functional garbage can or bathroom cup can be decorative, can't a functional tooth brush?
me either - I'd much rather be able to find a straight old normal toothbrush that DOESN'T stand out!
In small spaces, sometimes you can't HELP but have your toothbrush out on display for all to see! A pretty one would at least make it nicer to live with, in that instance.
So these people who live in small spaces and are compelled to display their toothbrushes, where do they manage to hide the toothpaste, floss or mouthwash? My toothbrush is the first thing I'd want to put away (as far as possible from bathroom germs).
Also, the post may have been more useful if it included the chargeable toothbrushes that are harder to conceal in small bathrooms & need to be plugged to the wall, etc
As a dental hygienist, I can tell you that the last thing your toothbrush needs is to be design-friendly. #3 and #4 are not at all what are considered to be anywhere near oral hygiene friendly - those are simply too hard on your gums and teeth.
Please please please refrain from making oral hygiene a design topic.
And I used a tooth brush similar to #5 in a presentation with kids. It looks tacky.
#1, the Preserve toothbrush, is awesome, pretty, and environmentally friendly. I really like the funky colours, but I use the all-white one in my red and white bathroom. I really appreciate a toothbrush that isn't covered in tacky geometric designs, garish colours, and brand logos.
Toothbrushes on display gross me out. It's just not sanitary.
I agree with ferha! It would be great to see some design solutions for electric toothbrushes, also for the clutter that goes with them and can't always be stored away (chargers, UV sanitizers, extra heads). I looked around in the archives a bit and saw some posts where people talked about how much they love their electric toothbrushes, but I didn't see any tips.
There's still 5 days of "Bathroom Month" left
*crossing my fingers!*
I think the big toothbrush would be cool hung over the door or over the mirror or something in the bathroom. Other than that, I hide the toothbrush I use every day in my cabinet. It will get icky on the counter. If dust falls on my counter, then it certainly would fall on my toothbrush.
I never put my Braun Oral-B in the bathroom, i'm obsessed with the image of thousands of bacteria attacking my toothbrush everyday. I don't care if someone see my toothbrush, its a nice and good one and I bring it with me everytime i have to sleep overnight somewhere.
