On this eve of April 1, we thought some office DIY inspiration might serve you well for tomorrow's day of pranks. If you're one of those jokesters and need some ideas, we found a few (from last year) over at Popular Mechanics. Beware: a few of these would take a lot of time and effort! Others would work just as well at home:
1. Fool Your Coworkers With the Refrigerator Handle Switch
2. Bust Up the Conference Room TV
3. Germinate Your Cubicle Mate's Keyboard
4. Lock Your Buddy's Shopping Cart at Lunch
5. Fill the Boss' Office to the Brim With Peanuts

Nowadays, Office jokesters are soon Unemployed jokesters...
...unless they're a CEO.
my roommate put oragel on our toothbrushes the one year, so your mouth gets all numb as you brush. The only thing was he moved out like 2 weeks before april fool's day, so he did it then, which didn't make as much sense, then you just have no idea what is going on.
Yeah, office jokes aren't funny, especially when a lot of people are facing cutbacks. Not good to draw bad attention to yourself.
At home, however...:) A favorite is to make 200 copies of some strange celebrity (preferably with a mullet) and place them all over a roommate's room. In each drawer, in a favorite book, ALL over. It's great fun to watch her find them.
HAHA! jmorey that is hilariouuss - i am so doing that to my boyfriend tomorrow! and my roomate.
My mom always waited for everyone to fall asleep, and then changed all of the clocks in our bedrooms and turned off the alarms.
Then when morning came, she'd come running into our rooms saying, "You're late! GET UP GET UP GET UP!!!" and my brother and I would panic and throw on our clothes and rush down stairs...only to find out it's an hour earlier than when we normally get up, rather than an hour after.
She'd smile and serve us a full breakfast, and we'd grumble and eat it (we'd normally never eat more than toast or something as we walked out the door).
Another one she did, was to come in when we were waking up and look out the curtains, then say, "Oh! It's snowing!" We grew up in an area where snow didn't happen often, but when it did, everything shut down (even for just an inch). We'd get excited about a snow day and school being canceled, only to find out it wasn't snowing.
She did that one so often that we stopped believing her, especially since she did it whenever she wanted us to get up, not just April 1st. But once she said, "It's snowing!" and we said, "Yeah right," and rolled back over, but she kept saying, "No, really! It's really snowing!" And it was! That got us more than the times she said it was but it wasn't, lol.
Another April 1st she when out to get groceries, but didn't come back for a long time. As she predicted, we didn't notice, so she had the grocery clerk call home and pretend she was a nurse at the hospital, saying our mom got in a terrible accident. As my brother was on the phone and we were trying to figure out what to do, in waltzed my mother! When we said, "Mom?!" the woman on the phone started saying, "I'm so sorry! I didn't want to trick you, but your mother insisted!"
Needless to say, my brother and I have a hard time believing my mother any more about anything.
Oh man. Look at all of my typos. Excuse me!
This year my husband & I are going to switch my 2 kids in their beds after they fall asleep. I think it'll be hilarious, but maybe I'm more like Mrs. Mack's mom.
Mrs. Mack, I think your mom rocks!
I filled my boss' office with balloons and stuck a 100 dollar bill in one of the balloons and "funny money" in the others so that he couldn't just start cleaning up the mess right away but had to pop every single one of those balloons until he found the money. I hung a sign with a needle for him that read, "where's Benjamin?" He was a brass, hard-a type, ex marine little Hitler, but it actually made him smile, especially as he left early with his coworkers for drinks on me. LOL Best prank I ever pulled though. He never really liked me until that day.
Once I switched the middle of oreo cookies with toothpaste, and gave my brother a plate of them.
no April Fool jokes. EVER! Practical jokes are basically cruel. There is more than enough "cruel" in the world without fostering more as "funny". I have never seen the point, and have seen too many go seriously wrong, with unexpected negative results. (And I do have a sense of humor, I just don't laugh at people's misfortune.)
When my sister and I were younger, she loved an after school snack of honey comb cereal dipped in melted butter. I ate most of them one day and she insisted I make her some more. Let's just say Joy dishwashing detergent tastes nothing like melted butter, but it sure looks like it :).
