I've loved colorful fabric wrapped cords for a few years now, and they've proliferated so that you can now get a wide variety of really easy stunning lighting from a number of sources at very low prices. Above is a dramatic clamp light interpretation by EarthSeaWarrior out of Bklyn, who does many vintage lamp overhauls with super colorful cord. Check out the other sources below, including DIY...

Brilliant colorful cord, parts, kits and now juicy silicone shades - all you need to go wild and make your own.

With great color, this is a ready to go pendant lamp with 15' of cord in four colorways.

If you want more of a piece of designed art, these knitted cord lamps from German designers Ilot Ilov are earthy and yummy.

Colorful cord and parts in more retro shades, this is another great source for DIY lighting with style.

For a much more modern and innovative approach to working with wire and bulbs, NUD takes the cake. Hailing from somewhere in Europe, their range of wire, parts and bulbs makes from some very unique possibilities.

One of the oldest sources of twisted cloth covered wire I know, Snake Head is a custom lighting and electrical supply that specializes in an antique style.

From Schoolhouse Electric comes a classic, totally finished pendant lamp with details such as a 20' black braided cloth cord and Bakelite plug.
