By now, if you've ever done even a modest amount of research online for digital cameras and the plethora of gear related to the world of shutterbugs, you've undoubtedly found yourself on the likes of sites like Digital Photography Review, Imaging Resource, or the sometimes controversial, Ken Rockwell. But there's also a wide variety of YouTube reviews about camera equipment out there, ranging from the dude in the basement, put-the-lotion-in-the-basket, webcammer professing his love/hate for his new DSLR, all the way to near-TV show quality features reviewing the latest and greatest in imaging technology. Leaning more to the professional is our personal favorite, the tandem team of Lok C. and Kai Wong of DigitalRev… We have DigitalRev partially to thank for helping us decide to make the plunge and buy an admittedly pricey camera bag; their in-depth, if somewhat leisurely, review of the Billingham bag not only convinced us about the bag's utility, but also persuaded us to spend a whole evening watching the rest of their reviews, a mix of travel show, comedy routine and even the occasional in-depth review of imaging equipment. Whether they're reviewing silly bokeh-producing accessories or sharing what's in their camera bags, host Lok C's British accent delivery, old man cap and bow-legged gait rarely fails to charm us into watching whatever they're reviewing, even when there's little or no interest in the actual products…like their recent how-to guide to paint a DSLR camera…pink?! If you're looking for a departure from the spec-centric stuffy confines of traditional photography reviews and want to supplement your research with some entertaining Top Gear-style amusement, we'd highly recommend checking out the DigitalRev TV archives. Just make sure you have a big block of free time.
