We were walking through a department store yesterday and noticed a bed that looked similar to this one. Of course, beds styled as top-heavy as that one aren't typical (or realistic) for the home. But we have to admit, we love a cozy-looking bed and strive to create a similar (but pared down version) of the department store bed at home...
Pillows (and lots of them) are the easiest way to create the top-heavy look. Colorful pillows can take the place of a headboard and the extra lot are great for propping yourself up in bed when reading. To add inches on your mattress, start with a thick mattress pad like this one
from Kensington (every little bit helps). We love the layered look and prefer a down comforter on top of a regular, cotton comforter. Our go-to bedding colors are usually white and we add pops of color with blankets.
