Ever wanted a sports car in the garage? What about a million dollars? Or a giant alligator? These printed tarps allow just that and cover your garage door, giving the illusion that there's something inside besides the family car and your fishing poles. See why we think they have some possibilities in your home and check out our favorites, after the jump!
Each tarp will run you between $240 and $300 and although we're pretty sure that most of your homes are ok without this product, the idea still has some possibilities for things like Halloween or Birthday parties (if you're on the eccentric side).
You can also send in your own image to be used (or chose one of theirs), but if you're willing to be a little adventurous, we can see them being used as wall murals in your home. You could use them to extend the visual size of your room, or make your living room become a beach front property. They could be a great way to add some style or add the look of wallpaper (instead of a photo) for a renter without the option to paint!
Check out all the designs that are offered so far over at Style Your Garage. Here's the ones we featured above.

How unfortunate.
Ridiculous waste of money
Some of the latest advancements in printing seem to be winding up in the wrong hands...
Good grief. Why not buy a giant tuxedo tux for your house while you're at it?
Sorry, meant to say, "Why not buy a giant tuxedo t-shirt for your house while you're at it?"
Funny but expensive...course it could also cause an accident.
I think these are funny, definitely something my aunts and uncles would chip in to throw on my grandparent's garage.
& I would def pay money for a t-shirt tux house cover, just sayin.
stay classy sassy posters.
I think it's pretty amusing... tasteful, no... but if you have a horrible garage door and you know it, yet you can't afford to replace it, you might as well make your neighbors laugh as they drive by. Or if your garage doesn't point to the street (as in our case), it would only be a joke for your family to enjoy
funny comments. I kind of like the albino gator one because of it's absurdity.
oh come on guys, i think it's HILARIOUS. our homes do not have to be serious square boxes of perfection ... we live in them! enjoy some whimsy! if this inspires fun in people, then i'm all for it.
I love this. Probably would never do it, but if you're the kind of person who lives to crack people up, this is perfect!
I second rebecca_f -we take decorating too seriously, trying to make our homes look like pictures in magazines. Some people only feel comfortable with picture perfect and spotless rooms, but a lot of people like to keep around bobblehead dolls that make them laugh and ugly quilts that their grandmas made.
Unfortunately, most HOA's would never allow this, and any city with a beautification program (my own included) would probably make you take it down as well. :-/
I, too, think these are awesome...
No
Another vote for awesome & hilarious. And just fun! Wouldn't you want to hang out with the guy with a giant dog garage cover? Though it's a little like getting a funny tattoo - it's great for a while, but eventually you're just telling the same joke every single day...
As a city loft dweller, I don't have a garage. But I'm searching the site now to see if any would work indoors (though it doesn't look hopeful)... Maybe the gold!!
I agree - these are funny!
I wonder if any of the humorless posters above are related to the person(s) who stole my pirate flag and replaced it with an enormous American flag a few years ago...
I'm not against whimsical or humorous decoration per se, but there's something about a big tarp being draped over a garage that seems tacky to me. I don't think a trompe l'oeil garage door made out of wood or something more durable would strike me as quite so low-rent. (though this is not exactly cheap, either). Also, the style of the images reminds me of hotel expo 'art'.
I imagine the tarp getting faded, torn and becoming an eyesore over time, because why would you lay down hundreds of dollars for something like this unless you leave it up for months, if not years? Who cares what the neighbors think? They must be humorless fascists if they don't like it.
I must agree with those saying it's hilarious. I live in a condo, with garages lined up in a nice neat row, facing the street. I had a chuckle while envisioning the albino alligator "lurking" in my garage.
Then I envisioned the inevitable police car, surrounded by angry neighbors. Ah, the joys of small town living! :)
In the case of that first one, though, it's just a major improvement. But... if it were me, I would just change the door out to BE like that, instead of look like that.
I kind of don't mind these. And if you have a big enough place to have such things, you probably have kids, and I think that depending on their ages, kids would get a very big kick out of having an albino alligator or a robot in their garage; especially if it's not real. Photo ops and whatnot could really be fun.
This sort of thing could be a cheap idea for those who are trying to sell a home and can't afford to replace their garage door. Many people will do things such as this to 'stage' their house to show potential buyers the possibilities (ie. create furniture out of cardboard to show the potential of a room). Covering your existing door with one of the nicer images of garage doors is a GREAT cost-effective way to hide the existing door. I definately wouldn't recommend this for the long-term.
I could see my boyfriend finding a clever use for the rock band tarp. But it's not going on MY garage door. =)
These are really funny. Would I have one on my door? No. Would I think it was totally awesome if I saw one on somebody's door in downtown Madison? Definitely!
wtf?! looks cool but not worth paying for, even if the reason is theft prevention. no one is stupid enough to fall for it. it may only work once but over time i'm pretty sure it will fade.
Oh Man I love it - you guys have no sense of humor!!! I would definitely buy it if it was at least half the price. I woould love to see the look on people's faces as they pass by it!
Aw come on, it's funny. Especially the alligator.
I think it would be a great gag to pull on someone for their birthday or April Fool's day. The giant bird on its perch is especially amusing.
That's freaking hilarious.
Sure it's not something you'd keep forever, but its worth a laugh for a few months until it gets old.
