Marie of Marie's Fabrik was inspired by the pile of beautiful holiday detritus that she just couldn't bear to part with. She knew she was keeping her long cylindrical boxes for something. It just took a while to figure out what that might be.

Today we all benefit from Marie's slight pack rat tendencies. Inspired by the Muuto Oto storage system designed by Pil Bredahl, Marie whipped these suckers into shape with a hacksaw and some washi tape. What a lovely result! They're so beautiful perched against the window so as to allow light to shine through. Wouldn't these be nice in a child's room?

Depends on how sturdy the materials are. the project result looks wonderful, but possibly too delicate for active children.
Cute! And the translation on her blog was fun. But where, oh where, did the paper come from?!
Thank you for showing my DIY. The paper is from "House Doctor".
I've seen this done on a wall for office organization using cardboard mailing tubes covered in in patterned paper. And later, some creative soul took the idea & ran with it, using various sizes of pvc pipe & spray paint.
You could use the concrete form tubes from HD/Lowes, they seem to be pretty sturdy and come in different diameters
