When Tracy moved from an old farmhouse to a city apartment, she changed her decorating style to match her new urban environment. Tracy described her old farmhouse look as "shabby chic" and her new space as more "grown up and glamorous."
Having just moved to this apartment in March, Tracy made short work of moving in and decorating. It probably helped that this was a bit of a premeditated move. Back in October, when Tracy first started blogging about the potential of moving from farmhouse to city apartment, she was already dreaming of a new style.
This new apartment still has a shabby chic quality to it but it definitely has an urban style. And that tufted sofa - so gorgeous!

Nomade Express Slee...
Whoa, is that the FOURTH dead animal head on AT today? I think taxidermy has officially jumped the shark...
So many deer heads on walls lately. It is some trend I don't see my self falling for, although I have to admit, the plush one from one of the tours posted yesterday was kinda cute.
LOVE the Aubergine Velvet Chesterfield!
lol Nice to know I'm not the only one noticing all the superfluous taxidermy.
Although to be fair, one earlier today wasn't actually a dead deer but rather a wooden sculpture in the formation of a dead deer's head.
LOVE the couch...but the pillows kill it.
If I was that deer I'd be looking up at the gorgeous ceiling mouldings. Beautiful!
Beautiful Chesterfield and channel-back chair!
It IS a beautiful ceiling. (Sorry to start the comments off with negativity, but it does seem extreme!)
It's not AT fault that the house tours up to be featured happen to have taxidermy pieces.
Beauutiful molding!!
I wish it said somewhere what that paint color is in the living room. I'm looking for a real blue grey to use, without too much green in it, and it looks like that might fit the bill....
@hooksies - AT picks the tours!
@ hyzen - I painted my dining room Behr: Pewter Mug last week, and I love it! It never looks green, has a lovely dove gray cast in the morning, and a deeper feeling in the evening. (in a room w/east-facing windows) It only took one coat, too!
Beautiful colors throughout but I think the pillows diminish the sophistication of the sofa. It's a gorgeous piece and can easily stand alone without ornamentation. ...and should. And I agree regarding the stuffed head. Not PC, IMHO but also that wall is demanding more. Right now the vingnette for that area appears weak and off-balance because the space is nearly empty. Lose the deer and put some more of your great art work up. Other than that I like very much. Thanks for sharing!
I love this, especially the charcoal super-soft sofa against gray and pink in the living room. The aqua bedroom is divine as well.
@Emily The Cat - I agree. I'm finding this very odd!
Since when did "grown up and glamorous" involve a ton of pink pillows, the top half of a mannequin, and Christmas lights strung over a baby blue armoire?
I agree with other posters--the couch is awesome and could better showcase its innate awesomeness sans pillows.
I want that couch so badly...and I was over mounted deer heads, both actual taxidermy and all the "ironic" knockoffs, before the trend even started a year or two ago.
Perhaps that's a byproduct of growing up in CO where people treat dead deer heads as legit, non-ironic decor. That's some bumpkin, backwoods mountain people business right there.
Beautiful sofa, beautiful color combinations. However, those christmas lights are an unfortunate distraction from the more lovely elements.
beautiful pieces but editing is needed because some of the accessories make the other elegant pieces look kitschy.
Yes, I agree with other posters: the lights hanging off of that lovely armoir is not suitable. I am torn regarding the mannequin. What if it were dressed or perhaps moved to the bedroom or dressing area? I like it for what it is but I don't know about it"s place in such a lovely room, particularly with that gorgeous sofa.
oops! the lights ARE not suitable. not lights is... sorry
What a great & colorful apartment!
Could you tell us more about the artwork in each room?
beautiful pieces but editing is needed because some of the accessories make the other elegant pieces look kitschy.
Couldn't have put it better myself, rockerdelight.
However I'm loathe to criticise anyone with their own vintage dentists chair. Awesome!
still a bit too country/shabby chic for me. I don't see much of an urban/elegant vibe.
Yes still too shabby for my tastes, not really urban - but I love where it is heading. I'm in love with deep grey walls (these seem a little too light to really contrast with the bright pinks, which was the idea I think). The chesterfield is delicious - where is it from??? The artwork is great too!!
I don't like the bedroom - boring! Reminds me of my grandmother's. Too much white. Guess that's the left over shabby chic! But obviously you can't outfit a house or room perfectly even in a few months - they are evolving entities and be keen to see where this house heads.
I like you chose to do your "own" thing. I like the pillows on the couch. Btw... love that couch!
Your home is colorful, eclectic and interesting. It's also welcoming and comfortable. Thank you for sharing your beautiful it.
Meant to say "Thank you for sharing your beautiful new home."
I for one think the pillows look amazing against the sofa.
What a fun, colorful home!
Thanks for sharing.
to me, i looked at this picture and thought that there were some great pieces, (love the torso) however it has the air of a college student collecting junk finds and not quite knowing how to put them into a cohesive arrangement. I really enjoy the juxtapose of colour, however i think it is visually unappealing as a whole.
