We’ve been meaning to blog these for a while but we wanted to try them out for ourselves first and see if they worked and our Trader Joe’s (apparently the most popular TJ’s in LA) has been out of them. We finally hit an alternative Trader Joe’s and grabbed a pack. Although they don’t have the fabric softening properties of dryer sheets, we definitely like them to add an extra dimension of luxury to our laundry.
Reusable for 3-4 washes, they added a subtle hint of lavender to our sheets and pillowcases. Once they’ve done their time in the wash, the copy on the packaging suggests you rip open the bag, sprinkle the buds on your carpet and vacuum them up. With our weekly vacuuming scheduled for Monday, we ripped open a bag, let it work its magic and vacuumed up the flowers when we arrived home. Our house smelled of the south of France and that alone may be worth it. We're also throwing one in our luggage to counteract that stale airplane smell.

Sprout Side Table
I put these in between my wool sweaters to deter moths.
I tried one of these once and it exploded in the dryer. Picking lavender out of your towels is not fun. I now only use them in drawers, etc.
Why do we need these? Would'nt it be easier/cheaper/greener to just put a drop of lavender oil on a clean old sock and toss it in the dryer?
