Sometimes we are so focused on the new and exciting we overlook the simple and classic. But when we saw these homey, unpretentious cotton, wool, and linen blankets and throws from Brahms Mount that are woven on antique shuttle looms in Maine, we were utterly taken.
They seem like they would work effortlessly with any kind of décor from traditional to modern and though the prices are steep (around $200 to $450) they seem like the kind of blankets that would only get better with age. Brahms Mount also offers gorgeous linen towels at $230 for a set of three (hand, head, and body). A splurge for sure, but we're betting they would last a lot longer than that big screen TV.

These are lovely. Umm... any suggestions for similar looking, good quality blankets that I can afford? I do agree with the comment about it being a better investment than electronics (which are outdated by the time you bring them home) but I don't buy those either.
too expensive for me!!
I've got both the 100% linen queen-size blanket and the personal day blanket. They are incredible! Sturdy, comfortable, warm in cold weather, cool in hot weather, elegant, artisanal, and with a wonderful weight. I stumbled upon their site and was able to get them on sale a couple of years ago; it's worth it to call the company for any news in this regard--they are a small company and treat you like family. These blankets have really improved my quality and enjoyment of life at home. All the folks who rave about the wonders of sleeping on linen sheets (and I use them and love them, too) ain't seen nuthin' yet--this is a whole 'nuther level. There's nothing else out there like these pure linen blankets; I'm so glad I got them--they've made me a Brahms Mount fan for life. Now I'm saving up for the linen towels and a blanket for my mom.
too pricey for me as well, I'm afraid.
These are gorgeous, and absolutely worth the price. If only I could gather up enough dough, I'd invest in these in a hot minute. (Why am I speaking in late '40s-ish slang?!)
i have a blanket from brahms mount that i bought about ten years ago at the common ground fair. i cannot say it more eloquently that kati above, so i'll just echo her comments and reiterate that the blankets are worth the cost!
