Trams are a local institution of ours and we've been researching old tram scrolls but were disappointed in the price and the quality of what was on offer. Then we stumbled across PrintDolls and initially we were just excited by the quality of these hand screen-printed replica destination scrolls. Then we found they had a scroll for our neighborhood and we were thrilled!
Created by 2 friends who shared a love of typography, PrintDolls have expanded their range since 2007 to include 18 different destination scrolls. With almost every capital in Australia and their surrounding suburbs included, PrintDolls have also released a nontraditional international flight scroll. Priced at $880 each scroll comes stretched and measures 1830cm high by 840cm wide. For more info visit the PrintDolls website here.

The prices of the original ones seem to be dropping as more of these reproductions become available. (a quick search on ebay sees some going for under $200)
I've got an original one, which I've just had framed up, and it looks great - but its worn - it is 50 years old - but seeing these ones - sometimes I think they look better!...
There are now tea towel ones available too - and framed up they look fab too..
Original or shiny new reproduction? Thoughts?
Now what to do with the 2 metre section of roll I have left - is it worth anything now? Anyone interested?
Yes! I've been looking around for a while for an afordable one. What city?
They're beautiful as artwork and I really like the ones above but, for a reproduction and at $880, I'd want to pick my place names to represent my travels or sense of humor (for instance mine would probably have a LOT of "Convent" stops). I've collected a few over the years, with my family name or subway stop for my old job, but only look for old ones that have some real sentimental value.
Rucy, I feel the same way--for that price, I want to pick my cities and stops. Fortunately, it looks as if they will soon be offering a "custom" print--you can sign up for a notification email for when it's available. At that price, I'm still hesitant to get one, but I'm definitely interested.
Saw one the other day for $800- love them and want to get one so bad as a gift for my mum but cannot afford that.
