The neutrality of a white backdrop gives you plenty of room to mix patterns and have fun with accessories. Upholstered headboards are a more long term way of incorporating color, pattern, and texture, while pillows require the least commitment. A good-looking blanket or quilt can add just the right amount of personality.

Pretty, but I'll still take colored walls over white anytime.
I don't mind white walls, it doesn't compete with artwork and I hang a lot of my own work up at home. I also love the look of wooden door/window frames with white walls. I think that if you're going to have white walls you have to have a reason for it or it just looks like you missed a step.
I like the white walls. It's minimalist and peaceful. Many of these pics aren't stark white anyway, they have some kind of texture, accent, or or aren't a pure white. I love the garland in the 3rd pic, reminds me of this which I'm lusting for across a large wall in my bedroom:

We're about to decorate our bedroom, which has always had colored walls. I'm finding myself more and more drawn to white as a background. It would be the first room I have ever painted white, but I love the peacefulness of layers of different white.
@tiedye dc - Love the white mexican wedding banner. I'm getting one of those. Maybe 2. Thanks.
We went from a rich red to BM's Ballet White. Both were nice. But I am finding the grayish white to be very relaxing. I love these rooms, the way color is incorporated but not overwhelming.
My bedroom walls are creamy white, and my ceiling is a gently mottled sky blue. I love waking up in my simple calming room.
I'm really obsessed with the 8th picture. Even though it only shows like one-fourth of it, I WANT that red bedspread. Any idea where I could find something like that? I like the boldness of the red against the dreamy white.
I love these rooms! Bright and simple but still cozy.
Textiles aside, I LOVE the headboard in the first image! Anybody know where we can get one of those? :D
I was just going to ask the same question! I am coveting that first headboard.
I was looking all over the place for the headboard, and then scrolled down through the comments and saw others were asking the same thing! That headboard in the first picture is so sharp!
Dangit, I read all of this for the headboard, too!

This is as far as I got on my headboard/everything else in that first picture that I want to make mine search:
The online magazine that has the original display of this setup (http://issuu.com/covetgarden/docs/issue22?mode=window&backgroundColor=%23222222) links to this website for the headboard, although I didn't get any further than this: http://www.urbanproduct.ca/site/UP.html
That wooden headboard is just incredible with all of the white. Swoon.
