Do you ever buy something for your home that you know has great potential, but you just don't quite know what to do with it? Alli bought this stool with the intention of making it over, but after 3 1/2 years inspiration had yet to strike. Good ol' Martha came to the rescue and provided the creative spark that Alli needed.
Using sissal rope, Alli of Hooray Design transformed her ho-hum stool into something much more nautically inspired. While she uses it merely as an accent piece, there are other ropes that can be used that are more comfortable. We think this would be a great way to update a side table as well.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Looks very scratchy and uncomfortable to sit on.
I've been wanting the seasgrass barstools from Pottery Barn for about a year now. The price tag of $130 on each stool has kept my husband from saying, "No". I am tempted to try a variation of this.
Cool!
I like it. I see these stools at yard sales all the time! I might just try this...
I just googled seagrass spools and it's actually out there for sale. Wondering now if I could use that for a bench I've been wanting...
pssst, Alli - it's spelled sisal!
I covered stool legs with the rope, leaving wooden seat; and then painted the whole thing antique white.
Yes, it looks like it would make for a very itchy ass!
Agree with those re: itchiness.
Looks pretty, but totally impractical to sit on in shorts or a sheer fabric.
Um, tmoore: Alli didn't misspell it, the author of this AT post did.
