As Gregory pointed out yesterday, next month we'll be "thinking green" across all our sites. Thinking green for us has always including repurposing objects and we are always intrigued by ordinary objects rethought in extraordinary ways. Remember those old cassette mix tapes from high school? So does Transparent House...
"These sleek table lamps are made of transparent and coloured tapes. The small lamp is made from answering machine tapes while the larger model is made of compact cassette tapes in different shades. The lamps use non-heated neon lights. All cassettes are in their cases."Ah, cases. That rules out a DIY for us! For more information on this project, click here.

Love it and the pattern it throws on the wall!
Thank you so much! Exactly what I have been trying to conceive with my many boxes of cassettes. Now I am full of ideas and I love how these transparent ones reflect their patterns on the wall; didn't think of that. Awesome.
Now how to transfer the data before gluing up the tapes?
this is just the coolest thing! i would totally buy it.
Wow I love that! Very inspiring and gives me something to create in the future!
I have a bunch of old CDs that I no longer use that I'm trying to find a use for. Still no closer to a doable idea, but this one at least gives me a starting point for some inspiration. I would really buy these. And since I think I still have a box of tapes in storage, I may have to try this myself.
Fabulous! And I love that they're all wound exactly the same amount.
