Can you pinpoint the moment when you first realized, "I'm an adult"? For me, it was the day I bought this trash can: A $200 piece of steel and plastic that probably brings me more joy than anything else in my kitchen.

It feels very Monica Gellar to say that, but I adore having a roomy trash bin with all kinds of bells and whistles. The best thing about it is the two separate bins that sort trash away from recycling–but that only works if everyone knows what to do.

The solution? About $10 worth of custom vinyl stickers I commissioned from Etsy. With downloaded clip art and a few minutes in Photoshop, I worked up these labels to stick inside of the lid of my trash can. Now, anytime we have new guests over, we can avoid having to explain the recycling situation, and we're saved from having to sort it out ourselves.

The stickers are the same material that car decals are made of, which means they're long-lasting and can stand to be wiped down a couple thousand times without peeling up. You can do the same by searching "custom vinyl stickers" on Etsy, or reaching out to a sign shop locally.
