Treasure Hunt & Dining By Design

This weekend at Merchandise Mart: two events we like - last year we spent a fun afternoon checking out the goods for sale at the Treasure Hunt and the OTT tablescapes at Dining by Design (here's our post about Margaret Russell's table from last year).
One admission price ($10) allows you to attend both events with a weekend pass. Proceeds from the tickets benefit DIFFA/Chicago.

The Treasure Hunt is an open to the public sale of luxury samples from the Mart's showrooms at up to 75% off...

...and naturally, the prices are still high, but we think it's a good sale to wander through. It is especially worthwhile if you are in the market for area rugs or upholstery fabrics - the quality for the (discounted) price in these two areas is very good. Over 40 showrooms will participate in this Treasure Hunt.

Dining by Design takes place on the 8th floor, setting the stage with some very dramatic 10x10 dining rooms pulled together by designers to benefit DIFFA. Fundraising cocktail parties and a full sit down dinner gala take place here in the evenings - we think its a hoot to go with a good friend to check out all the details in the afternoon - the rooms are super theatrical, highly impractical, just-for-fun and (sometimes!) beautiful.

Hours:
Dining by Design 10-2, 11/3 and 4
Treasure Hunt 10-5 11/3, 11-5 11/4
