Jerid and Jesse, who live in Portland, share a 1920s house with a Montessori school, a rabbit named Otto Von Rolland, and a handful of the couple's "grrrrrls" — or chickens, to the rest of us. Both are creative types, and their bedroom is a reflection of their amazing offbeat aesthetic and affinity for found objects.
"Most were gifts to one another over the last five years," says Jerid. "A typical date for us would involve a treasure hunt of some kind at an estate sale or an off-the-road/backwoods thrift shop."
Their style? "All over the map!" explains Jerid. "Eclectic/Eccentric. Vintage. Reclaimed. Inherited. DIY. Always evolving. Inspired by colors, textures, and patterns, and organic elements like feathers, eggs, mosses and lichens, honeycombs, bugs, bones and skulls. We have a shared interest in art, circus freaks, curiosities/oddities, anatomy, the male image, Day of the Dead, and animals — especially deer and rabbits."
And, in case you like what you see, Jerid and Jesse are planning to launch an Etsy shop for their "mancrafted" housewares and vintage finds. "If we can part with them," adds Jerid. Fingers crossed!

amazing collections
i love rooms you want to spend an hour combing through. great stuff. also, THAT MIRROR. where is it from? we needs it.
Beautiful! I'm also a fan of Paxton Gate (the one in SF).
The mirrors are from IKEA I believe - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60182059
Whelp, this is pretty freaking fantastic. I love the muted colors all around. It really looks authentic and warm and cozy.
Whoa whoa whoa! From the comment it sounded like a person who's pretty cave-like/creepy, but that is totally awesome! It's like a very curated, odd-ball collector. But artistic in the display and surprisingly warm! Well done for something that could easily veer into the loony bin! ;)
Stunning!
I have the same typewriter and case.
Is that a live bunny? I don't have any objections to taxidermy, but live bunnies are more awesome, I must say. One can personally benefit from a live bunny (as opposed to a deer... or a squirrel). Although they do poop constantly. >.>
What's this paint brand/color?!
...That is so COOL.
He wrote back and said only the bedroom was Apartment Therapy ready at the moment...
Oh Jerid, you clearly haven't seen some of the dull, neutered, I-bought-my-entire-house-at-the-IKEA-sale! interiors we've seen around here.
This room is awesome. Cluttered, and a nightmare to dust, but AWESOME!
To say that I look forward to the house tour is an understatement.
Oh, rabbit Otto is in the writeup. Hurrah! Though I couldn't tell how he'd be balanced if he were fake, he was so perfectly upright in that picture I was fooled.
Cute chalk drawings!
And cute art in the 1st picture, last row
:)
So beautifully done, love it all (well, maybe not the insects, but love everything else)
This place looks like the booths at the antiques store around the corner from me.
The consistency in style is really fantastic. I love this. Definitely looking forward to the full tour.
I love that he said only the bedroom is ready, ha ha. Sounds like something I would say. Awesome room. Just wow.
dweebgirl — i'll dig the paint can out of the garage today and let you know.
blandwagon — yes. i agreed. it's cluttered. pain to dust? yes. my thinking behind things is that one day we'll have a larger space (a home to ourselves) where all our things can be dispersed in such a way that it won't be so centralized. as of right now, we have another room that acts as an art studio but soon to be a living room, and a small "nook" off the bedroom that will then be an art space. we're lacking furniture/shelving/storage for these spaces, but when we get around to it, i'll be moving some things out of the bedroom. also, etsy plans entail rotating things out i'm not as attached too, and i'll never quit collecting, but understand that sometimes there can be too much.
babyfishmouth - not sure how to take the comment, but either way, where's this antique store?!
I'm shopping for pillows for my whole living room and this is EXACTLY the feel I'm going for. Any leads on where to find such awesome pillows?
cannot WAIT for a full tour!!
Catherine:
The white/black "+" pillows are from IKEA. They reminded me of Psychic TV.
The heart pillow is from Goodwill. I found this one within the last year, but I also found one when I was sixteen or so, I cut it up and stitched the anatomical heart to the back of a jacket. I was stopped by a random person who recognized the design and was told that hospitals give those pillows to people who've had heart attacks.
The red/black is from Red Fox Vintage. I had two, Otto ate the other one. Not sure if you knit or crochet, but I'm sure there's a pattern out there.
The striped, chevron, and moustache man were made by us. We'll be selling pillows and linens on Etsy soon.
Heart pillow on the bed! Where is it from?
What did they use to make the ikea mirrors stick out from the wall in the bedroom? Or do they come that way?
I wonder how they dust all that stuff...
Could someone please give me a good description of the bedspreads color? I absolutely love it...but don't know whether to search for blue or grey...? Thanks! Incredible room!
Jerid,
Thanks for all the info on the pillows. I'm awed and inspired by your creativity. Looking forward to your Etsy shop!
Catherine
We collect bedrooms now?!
