Jerid and Jesse, who live in Portland, share a 1920s house with a Montessori school, a rabbit named Otto Von Rolland, and a handful of the couple's "grrrrrls" — or chickens, to the rest of us. Both are creative types, and their bedroom is a reflection of their amazing offbeat aesthetic and affinity for found objects.
"Most were gifts to one another over the last five years," says Jerid. "A typical date for us would involve a treasure hunt of some kind at an estate sale or an off-the-road/backwoods thrift shop."
Their style? "All over the map!" explains Jerid. "Eclectic/Eccentric. Vintage. Reclaimed. Inherited. DIY. Always evolving. Inspired by colors, textures, and patterns, and organic elements like feathers, eggs, mosses and lichens, honeycombs, bugs, bones and skulls. We have a shared interest in art, circus freaks, curiosities/oddities, anatomy, the male image, Day of the Dead, and animals — especially deer and rabbits."
And, in case you like what you see, Jerid and Jesse are planning to launch an Etsy shop for their "mancrafted" housewares and vintage finds. "If we can part with them," adds Jerid. Fingers crossed!
