AT LA reader, kimg924, was shopping at Target a few weeks ago and noticed a Zebra print melamine table collection and thought it would make a perfect food and water station for her cats. Not only did she love the "kitsch" look, but she was able to incorporate animal print into her home on a smaller scale.
Using tableware for your pets can be an easy way to add color and pattern into your home. Check out more of Target's melamine collections that are affordable and a great idea for pet bowls.

Thanks, kimg924!

I like it!
One of my cats gets facial acne, the vet says it's from plastic dishes. What a nut!
This is the second post on this topic today. There were at least three on cat scratching posts yesterday. Isn't there some sort of editorial oversight here? I don't want multiple posts on a topic - I want the best one.
The signal to noise ratio on this site is becoming seriously low.
Too cool!
My cat is definitely allergic to plastic - not only acne but also frequent vomiting. It went away when I got rid of her plastic water container/dish.
brilliant!
I love the look of this but it's safer for pets to eat and drink from stainless steel or glass dishes --- but I'm sure there are plenty of cool dishes in those materials that would look interesting and be safer than plastic.
What's going on with all the pet related posts these days?
Pet Month!
That's a lot of cat food.
sorry -- and i'm not sure how useful it is to write this here because who knows if they'll ever read it -- but do you think you AT guys could hire someone who looks over the entire blog and makes sure no repeating topics get posted? i've seen so many identical photos and topics coming from different AT bloggers, and if it's not part of their job to read everyone else's entries and edit their own accordingly, maybe someone else should.
i mean, i love most of what i see here, but even this pet owner doesn't need to see several different posts suggesting that i use regular dinnerware for my pets or make a cat bed out of cardboard. some things only need to be said once.
It hadn't occured to me to use a melamine tray under my dog water dish instead of a mat--I think I'll try it!
i heart pet month. keep it up at. and if you are going to open up an at:pets and need bloggers.. where can i apply?

plastic is not good for pets
oh, my cat eats his wet food out of vintage pyrex mini-bowls and their water is out of a vintage pyrex casserole dish. better than them being at the back of my cabinet! :)
I second lemonpie's comment. Though I doubt it'll ever be addressed.
On a more positive note, I'm loving reading about everybody pet related stories. It makes me want to make the leap to get one soon. My only hesitation is questioning whether to get a cat or a dog.
I third Lemonpie. AT is great, but the repeating topics and recycled posts make me less enthusiastic about reading it.
that looks a little like a big bowl of corn.
love the zebra print!
What a cute idea. You could do the same thing with flea market china finds. My little brat eats from vintage yellow Fiesta bowls.
i've always "served" my kitty his meals in a set of 'real' dishware. it's nice!
i used to do so with a china set but he kept knocking the water cup too hard and causing spills. guess it was too dainty for him. :-)
I read somewhere that melamine leaks toxins. I use Japanese soup bowl. cheap and looks good, as if your pet cars? find in Japantown.
