We spotted these fantastic paintings on one of our favorite reads, of paper and things. Tracy, who is based out of Knoxville, Tennessee, uses the wood from dead Red Elm trees to create the discs that are then sanded and clear coated, and finally painted to highlight the rings of the tree. We love this look!
All the tree ring paintings are unique pieces. You can buy a set of three for $52.99 (which seems like a bargain for original art). See more of Tracy's work on his etsy shop, Focus Line Art Paintings.

Wow, beautiful!
I've seen this Etsy shop before, and I LOVED all the work. I'd definitely recommend buying more than just 3. The price can go up pretty quickly, but like the picture above shows . . .it makes QUITE a statement!
Those are just lovely!
Love them!
Just bought six. Thanks!
And it's already gone up 10 bucks a set.
I hate being the only jerk to say this but...
I could easily make these myself for A LOT less money. Most of you probably can too.
With that being said...yes, they're cute :)
To echo abc123, yeah, I would make these before buying them. They're quite cute!
Where is that headboard from?
It's not jerky. The artist even carefully describes how the tree ring paintings are made.
I like this. A friend of mine, an artist, also does this but with ink instead of paint.

Sure you COULD make them, but would you think to make them? To me, that's a big part of what makes an artist an artist.
And how many other artists have been doing this since before this artist Even thought of this concept or what about those who are doing the same thing but not selling it on Etsy?
Billions of people on the planet and lots of dead trees. We are probably surrounded by painted dead red elm pieces and don't even know it! Spooky.
absea,
I'm not saying it's not a valid artistic effort...I'm saying it's not worth $60 for three of them ... I can easily recreate those at home on a rainy weekend for much less money.
Wow.... that's actually a photo of my master bedroom. I sent the photo to the artist to show him how I featured his artwork in my home. For more information regarding the headboard, etc. please view my blog. All the info is there :)

I think these are beautiful, would be perfect in a baby's or small child's room, even perhaps hanging in a mobile or as garland, waterproofed as coasters...
