ICFF is often about clean lines, smooth finishes and minimal solutions and presentations, so it was an interesting shift to see so many pieces this year that embraced some heavy duty decorative detail. And not just surface-y printed on pattern, these were all about the texture and art of decorative embellishment — carving and inlay work.
The gallery includes 15 examples that I shot at the show, including everything from marquetry to beading, along with more rough and tumble carving and textured tilework. This is just a taste, there were more to be found. So, lovers of hand hewn finishes can start (cautiously) celebrating — it looks like the possible deepening of a trend.

I think it works best in the last example. As for the rest, a little too frou-frou.
The first image is absolutely elegant.
Those Sandback tables!! However, I suspect they are a billion dollars. Confirm/deny?
agree with comment 2 and comment 3!
Love this stuff. You could easily overdo it, but one or two pieces as accents would be scrupptious!
er, make that scrumptious! (sigh)
I like this sort of thing, and learned not to clean it with Swiffers or other dust cloths. It can be cleaned by vacuuming it or by using a lint tape roller on it.
