On a recent hunt for the perfect ottoman, I began to notice a trend among high design shelter mags and online retailers - heavy metal décor. And not just the expected nail head embellishment we've been seeing for a while, but details like spikes, studs and hard edges that crank up the volume and impact of key pieces — allowing all of us to add a little Lenny Kravitz cool to our crib.

• Studio Chair and Footstool by Lee Broom, see designer's site for stockists
• Stud Bed by Josmo Furniture , contact designer for pricing
• Heavy Metal Coasters by Kim Seybert, $60 for set of 4 at Treluxe
• Stud Lighting by Diesel for Foscarini, $454 (Piccola) and $577 (Grande) at Y Lighting

I really like the first picture, but I can't imagine those pieces in another setting. Looks really cool though!
Lenny Kravitz has nothing to do with heavy metal...but okay...
haha good point Pi. However he does wear shiny earrings! Maybe that's the connection.
I love mixing materials in unexpected ways! This is what I like to call "Industrial Glam!" In fact, I wrote a whole post about it!

great idea Chad. The mixture of metals with glam inspired heavy metal upholstery is so innovative. I could totally see this in Lenny's apartment.
