From that moment on, I’ve been smitten with the inky, graphic quality of sea life illustrations (especially octopi). Something about the precision with which they’re rendered…like watery blueprints of the deep, they remind us of mysteries we have only yet begun to fathom. These days, it seems that others share my obsession, as tributes to these oceanic creatures are showing up everywhere. Join me, won’t you, in this deep dive through the fascinating world of biological art…under the sea.

I love, love, love the marine collection from Thomas Paul -- the combination of vintage-looking illustrations and rugged fabrics is just perfect.
Oh yes. Pretty much anything with a natural history spin to it will suit me. And that triptych is divine! Have you seen the Deep Sea curtains at Anthropologie?
I do like the few octopus items on here for sure - octopi are awesome!
As a scuba diver, I can fully embrace the idea of having undersea creatures worked in to a nautical themed space. However, if I were to take a nap on my couch and have to wake up to that big ass jellyfish up above me, I think I'd crap my pants. Those things are terrifying.
I fell in love with that same painting in that same episode! Such a great piece.
I love it.
Just an fyi, none of the links are working
Haha, @bodicegoddess, I can see what you mean about the jellyfish!
Thanks so much, @kleinhah! (They should be fixed shortly.)
great round up Bethany! I love nautical decor that isn't too seaside cliche, and these are beautiful. Welcome on board :)
Wonderful roundup. I've got my heart set on the Thomas Paul shower curtains and matching bath rug due to a similar affinity for the denizens of the deep!
Octopus are awesome.
FYI 'Octopi' is an incorrect pluralization of octopus
@ Ana: Let me add that Kory Stamper, an associate editor at Merriam-Webster posted a great explanation of the different "plurals" of octopus on YouTube:

Thank you so much, @LeahDC & @gregory! :)
@Ana & @Michael W. - I think I'm going to have to let the grammarians duke this one out. According to dictionary.com, both 'octopi' and 'octopuses' are correct. As Michael has illustrated, there seems to be a lot of confusion, but not much resolution...!
I might have to start using "octopodes"!
That octopus is everywhere now. Its a copywright free image so given the price one might as well create ones own piece:

Even though ceramics are my main addiction (and I have way more than I need for use or display), I couldn't resist buying a few of the Anthropologie pieces (cup and saucer, platter, salad plate) when I turned them over and saw that the designs continued over to the undersides. And I love the tentacle handle on the teacup (although the cup is a bit too large and shallow to keep tea hot for very long.)
How about this octopi curtain:

:)
I am the daughter of two marine biologists, so i've always had a soft spot for marine animals (and grew up with plenty of marine-themed artwork in my house, though none quite this stylish). And I love this stuff, I really do.
But the triptych... the left panel is really clearly out of alignment with the other two. And it doesn't appear as though you could change the space between the panels to make it appear to line up. Those little details would totally bug me, if it were on my wall. Other than that, I love it.
I wish there were more art in this style with Leafy Sea Dragons, they are definitely my favorite sea creature.
@Ana - I know, huh?
(Although, my British accent is terrible! :)
@m.schwarz & EclecticDS.com! - I thought it must be, because I've seen it used a lot. (If only I were artistic enough to create a triptych like that one for myself!)
@dsbrennan, @gregory & @MerrifieldRugs - I love the curtains too! (But I was trying to prevent giving a monopoly to Thomas Paul in the round-up. Difficult, as he has so many great pieces out right now! :)
@Crabbit - The tentacle is what did it for me too. :)
@avowedvirago - I noticed the alignment issue also... The prints are usually framed and matted though, so I think the added distance makes the discrepancy less noticeable. (It's available as one large print too, if that appeals to your sense of continuity more. :)
Also, I think the Leafy Sea Dragon would be GORGEOUS rendered in this manner!
I love this grouping. Reminds me of one of my favorite etsy sellers, minouette, a lino printmaker. I have this one in my kitchen:

She has a fantastic jellyfish too. Unfortunately she seems to be on vacation so I can't get a link for that one. But her work is priced ridiculously low ($18? Seriously?), and I think it's gorgeous.
I remember Tori Spelling used a squid or octopus wallpaper in her son's nursery. I searched high and low to find it, but no luck. Does anyone know where to find it??
Here is an octopus stencil. I think it's sweet looking.http://designinspiration.typepad.com/design_inspiration_planet/2012/01/stencil-of-the-week-vn160-octopus-stencil.html
