Last night I was scrolling through page after page of gorgeous homes on Marie Claire Maison's site. I began bookmarking all of my favorites when I realized that they were all blue and pink! Candy colored interiors seem pretty rare; are we coming into a new trend?
There's something really great about these specific shades of blue & pink. They add a touch of whimsy to the rooms, so much so that I get the feeling that the owners are really fun and easy going. It's nice to not take your home too seriously. Adding these shades instantly says, "Hey! we're fun and daring!". I would love to be brave enough to sport these colors in my apartment. Maybe someday!

The third picture is a bit too much but that staircase is just lovely. Bright, cheery, and fun.
My art room is sort of the same blue as the staircase. I just wanted a blue room, and it ended up a bit bolder than I wanted, but we kept it.
I love that third picture. You'd need a very large room though and to keep furniture etc. to just one or two discreet colours.
Is the first picture photoshopped? What's going on with the blue paint up the stairs? Is it just me..
I don't know if it's a "new trend" - I think this is one of those color combos that you either love and keep loving, or never really get into. I think of Karim Rashid's work over the past 5 or 10 years when I think of these colors together. Personally, I think cerulean and raspberry make a fine pair! :)
The red, white and robin's egg staircase is ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR! What a fresh, vibrant color combination. Love it!
I have that copy of Marie Claire Maison. I don't think the stairwell is photoshopped at all...her whole house is like this. It's beautifully done. Not my style, but she's done an excellent job with her style.
I want those light fixtures in pic 5. Darn, I can't speak French!
Good eye MyDogistheShihTzu, there's something off about the angles and lighting in the corner at the top of the stairs.
I don't think it's a trend, people are becoming open to using non-neutral colors in large spaces. All of my walls, with the exception of two small ones, are either spring pea green or a blue similar to the one in photo three. My parents have a mustard familyroom.
Nate f, the light fixtures are from a French compagny called Pylones (http://www.pylones.com/). It's quite trendy right now here in France, as it is both funky and comparatively affordable. They have a shop in NY, so I guess they'll be wiling to ship to the US.
Yeah, something is really wrong with that first picture.
I think the third one would make me feel claustrophobic. The lighting is so harsh.
what makes the first pic better than the rest, i think, is that is also has a lot of white. white and brights always looks so fresh and happy! I have a turquoise living room, and it is a very cheerful place. All of the white woodwork really pops!
also, pretty sure the top of the stairs has a window with sun shining in, thus the color is more washed out up there.
Desperately want to know the names/brands of the paints used in these pictures, especially the first picture!
I really like the second picture. The colors are so soft and work very well together.
@wonkyone15 if it's the window, how come the wainscoting is shadowed at exactly the same spot? That's not natural.
That first photo REALLY looks Photoshopped. Still, a great color in a beautiful space.
