Chalkboard paint has finally crossed the line, graduated beyond children's decor and become a full on modern design trend for 2008. In the following links, I want to take you on a little tour of some really cool uses that use the matte black feeling for visual effect, and also to unleash ADULT creativity....
Also, here's a link to how to make your own. Brands mentioned the most: Benjamin Moore & Rustoleum.
>> Jane & Darko's Kitchen: Jane and Darko use CP on their kitchen cabinets to label what is stored within each.
>> Roland Emmerich's London Study: Walls and ceiling here are covered in CP and Roland's doodles run all around, including overhead.
>> Look!: Chalkboard Paint Border: This is an idea by Anastasia of Faiella Design. She uses CP as a border above wainscotting and writing as decor (we don't know what it's about!).
>> Chalkboard Paint Wall Calendar: This is from The Martha - an inventive use of CP, that has the most practical edge.
>> Chalkboard Paint Placemats: Off the wall and onto the table.
>> Magnetic Chalkboard Paint Wall: Even better when married with an magnetic undercoating!
>> Green Chalkboard Paint at Anthropologie: Green is a great alternative color and this use, while not my favorite, at least shows off the paint well.
>> Julie and Andrew's Kitchen Wall: This is nice effect. Forget writing and just rub the wall down with chalk to create an almost Venetian plaster-like effect. Remember, matte black hides wall imperfections better than anything else.
