Trend-spotters and forecasters descended on Maison et Objet last week outside Paris to see the newest designs and ideas in European home furnishings. While we've been bringing you the best and newest of the New York Gift Fair, this is an opportunity to see some of the trends emerging across the pond...

The story, Putting Trend Spotters on the Spot asks professionals to filter the massive exhibition space into some more general developing trends. The first one discussed has been labeled Honesty and encompasses the idea of being eco-conscious with an emphasis on value and craftsmanship. The idea extends into the trend for solid wood pieces and visible woodgrain. We would agree that this is an area that is becoming more popular...

Another trend is labeled Fantasy and highlights some of the more bizarre ideas and includes the trend for massively oversized objects and unusual combinations in textures, colors and ideas...

We had to highlight the new powder-coated metal furniture by Patricia Urquiola for Emu:

The third trend mentioned was Color with an emphasis on metallics, neons, and purples. Check out Putting Trend Spotters on the Spot for lots of pictures and explanations of some new products from Maison et Objet.
