We called it back in February. More and more, foxes are popping up on the radar as stylish elements in design, outfoxing the omnipresent owl as the It thing in woodland animals. Could foxes be the new owls in hipster home decor? Here are our 10 of our favorite finds...

Shaw's Original Fir...
I love both, but I thought foxes already happened, and owls were the new foxes?
I live in Virginia fox chase country, and the fox motif has had a high profile here for eons. Amusing that it is now a "trend."
pretty soon we're gonna run out of real woodland creatures and the trends will start inventing new ones... i can't wait for the owx (owl+fox)
my favorite fox is from Bears Eat Berries... well-designed and not cartoony like a lot of these... check it out:

Foxes will never be my new owl. Anyone who has ever heard a fox shriek outside their bedroom window in the middle of the night would say the same >:-(
I've loved foxes since Fox Mulder.
I don't care if that makes sense or not.
I started noticing this too! Old Navy has a super cute sweater with a fox on it, but it's sold out everywhere :(
I thought that octupus were the new owls.
Anthropologie sells the Festive Fox Cocktail Napkins as one in a set of four different woodland creatures... Same artist, still a set of four, and it's $20 cheaper than Terrain's. Weird.

I thought peacock was the new owl. Even Schwinn has a peacock detailed beach bike.
I adore my Jonathan Adler Fox in midnight http://www.jonathanadler.com/Fox/?initial=7570&cat=462
I don't think the fox will be as successful as the owl. My grandmother started collecting owl decor in the 70's. Foxes have a bad rep.
OH man, I just got an owl doormat. My friend gave it to me and said, "here, this was the most old-lady doormat they had." I secretly love it.
@Pooinbaby: I don't understand. Both foxes and owls make some damn freaky nighttime noises.
I've always liked owls and octopi (and squid and cuttlefish). When these trends "die" I won't be getting rid of my love for them or my decor inspired by them. Maybe the next trend should be dinosaurs, or did that already happen?
I'm pretty sure peacocks are the new "it" animal (and foxes were before owls I think, and then came octopus... all you need is to check out Anthropologie)
btw, by far my favourite fox item: http://www.etsy.com/listing/60825689/plate-hand-drawn-serving-plate-sleeping
Just like what you like, and sooner or later, it's going to be a "trendy" animal. It's kind of sad to think that somewhere out there, there are people getting rid of their owl decor to make room for the new fox decor... until the next animal trend anyway.
Flag on the play. Hedgehogs are totally the new owls.
Thirding the comments re: peacocks being the new owl. I've seen many more of them than foxes. Also they're just prettier, even if they are dumb.
The fox napkin set says "spot clean only" on the Anthropologie site. Really? What does one do with "spot clean only" napkins, especially at that price?
@popsicle Frame them, I suppose! They should be sold as prints. I can't even imagine shelling out $80 for napkins, jeez louise.
Squirrels are the new owl and always have been.
Re: foxes shrieking outside
I do not understand this. I'd love to hear foxes at night. Maybe you should come live in the city for a while and listen to car alarms, sirens, and people getting into fistfights outside all night instead.
Unegen, Youtube "fox shriek" and imagine yourself living in the forest alone, hearing that noise late on a moonless night, your dogs freaking out...
I think cats are.
