Trex decking, railing, fencing, and trim products are made from about 50 percent recycled and reclaimed plastic, and 50 percent reclaimed wood, including sawdust and used pallets from woodworking operations, and recycled plastic grocery bags from all over the country. (Trex is actually one of the largest plastic bag recyclers in the US.)

The recycled plastic (from sources such as grocery bags and stretch film) shields the wood from moisture and insect damage, so there's no rotting, warping, or splintering, while the reclaimed wood (a waste product of woodworking manufacturers) protects the plastic from UV damage, giving your fences and deck railings a solid look and feel.
