The trashcan opens via three foot pedals, one opening the top container's lid, the second horizontally sliding out the middle unit, and the last tilting the bottom container forward...
"The left pedal opens the highest can in a traditional way. This can is for general discarding. A bag dispenser is available here. The middle pedal makes the second can rotate around a decentered axe. This can is for packaging, plastic etc. The right pedal makes the last can move towards the user. Hmm...I wanted this a couple of months ago but I couldn't find it, so I just stacked two cylindrical plastic trash cans from the container store on top of each other and voila! It is good to see that I am not the only one who has thought of it though, and this version benefits from having 3 bins and a lid.

I'd like to buy one of these if it's inexpensive enough, but I clicked over and didn't see pricing. What I did see in the final picture was a photo of a roach. Why? Ew!
Is there any place in this Country to buy one? It would be too costly to ship from Paris.

I have a related question. Although I live in an apartment, my coop has several composting bins in the common garden area. We like to save our vegetable scraps, etc., but don't like to go out every night to empty the bin we use. Any ideas on how to remain ecofriendly without being absolutely gross with a container of rotting goods?

I'm not sure how to get around the container of rotting goods. I've got the under sink trash pullout system (old one from ikea). It's got two bins, one in front of the other. The front one I use for garbage, the one near the rear I have my compost-ables. I can go weeks without having to empty mine.

We keep ours in a bag in the freezer and then take them down (in our case to a municipal green bin for composting) when we take out the trash.

Yep, I just lift one off of the other. They have a little lip around the bottom that makes them fit snugly. I have recycling on the bottom and trash on the top. It would be nice to have three bins for sorting the glass, but then the stack would be too tall. As it is it works pretty well.
