If you've ever hired help in your home, you may well know this rule of thumb. Whether renovating or hiring a cleaner, no matter what, no matter who you are (even if you're reading this, Kim Kardashian), you can never have all three of these. You must choose only two: fast, cheap, and high quality. Let's break it down:

On a tight schedule? You can get the work done quickly and at a high level of quality but it's going to cost you. Conversely, you can also do the work quickly and cheaply, but quality is going to suffer.

On a budget? Then you'll have to sacrifice either quality or time. Save money by hiring the lowest bid and you're not going to get the best quality. Roll up your sleeves and save money by deep cleaning your house yourself but it's going to take a while.

Is quality key? Be prepared to pay high dollar or to have it take a lot of time (or both!).

No matter what, though, you can NEVER have cheap, fast, and high quality come together on one project. Even you, Kim.

Experienced renovators, have you found this to be true?
