Turntables in home decor are usually found one of three places. Either in your rec room spinning the latest tunes, on your kitchen counter holding oils, salts and other spices, or lastly in those pesky corner cabinets where your favorite box of cereal always seems to get stuck.
Instead, try using them in a new spot — under your kitchen and bathroom sink!
Under-sink storage can be tricky. Most often we turn to tubs or drawers that slide out, but let's face it, that never turns out well. You slide the drawer or tub out and everything in it falls to the front making a mess of things.
Instead, we ran across this fun turntable from The Container store (for $29.99) that holds up to 150lbs when the weight is distributed evenly. This means it's perfect for holding heavy liquid products like soaps and cleansers and makes things easy by spinning them around where everything stays in place.
The bit of storage space left behind the turntable (because we all know it's on our mind!) could be used for those items that we keep in bulk or don't use all that often. For instance, curlers that you keep on hand for when your hair grows out (even though it's currently short) or that shaving kit your mother gave you for Christmas that you haven't gotten around to using yet.

For those of us who live in small apartments where storage space is at a premium - This is a space waster.
I prefer to stick w/ bins, trays and boxes which use all the space on the shelf because they're rectangular - not round and ignoring the corners.
$30?! my under the sink RARELY sees any action worth impressing. I used one of my more sturdy shoe cardboard boxes. (my fancy heels get the clear shoe boxes: )). I keep detergents/softeners in a reusable bag, I can have ready to haul over to the machines in my building. I've got a crate & barrel box under the BA cabinet to keep the "extra" supplies (soap, shaving cream, toothpaste. etc.). works great.
I use them in my refrigerator too for all the mustard and pickle type jars that tend to get lost. I also bought a double stacking one and put it in my corner cabinet for spices. It really helps. I prefer bins for the bathroom or under sink though.
I've got something like this under the kitchen sink and it's wonderful:

Brilliant!! But, I'd get a lazy susan from ikea for like $8 instead.
Pixie - I have the same and I agree it is wonderful for organizing under the sink!
Amusingly, I have one in my refrigerator (for little jars of anchovies and olives and capers etc., one in my spice cabinet (for odd shaped spice things), one under the sink in the bathroom (extra shampoo etc), one on my dressing table (cosmetics and lotions), and one with craft stuff (pins, glue, measuring tapes, scissors etc) , but I only recently had the idea of putting one on my counter for condiments, which is, apparently, where everyone else uses them first.
While their shape means they leave spaces in the corners, you don't need to waste that space. You can still store things like large bottles in the corners. I don't regard it as a waste of space to have things easily accessible, as they are with a lazy susan.
I'd go to Ikea too..
If I put this under my kitchen sink, the boxes would get knocked over when they hit the sink drain pipe. Cardboard boxes work just fine.
Oddly enough, I'm looking for a cheap turntable to put a house plant on. You know you should turn them so they grow evenly, right?
