Whenever we think about party favors, they're usually something trivial to be played with for a few hours, or if you're lucky, a few days and then forgotten about. Doomed to live out their life in the bottom of a drawer of box in the closet. Why not try to give something living instead, like your own Christmas tree?

Even though it sounds a little silly, kids love to grow things. They love knowing they're bigger than something and are the ones responsible for a plant's well being. There's always something in season, be it a cactus, pine tree or flower, your local shops should have something that fits the bill.

To top it all off, you could make cute containers for them to live in as an activity at the party. Sure, the idea of dirt flying into the birthday cake isn't an appealing one, but we're sure you could figure out a way to make it work. Even if the kids forget about the fun times they had making their pot and transferring their plant to the backyard, there's still a living keepsake for their parents of times gone by.

You can find the Christmas Tree's pictured above over at Lavish Living for $9.00.
