The powers that be have dictated that green and orange are going to be the big colors in interior design for the upcoming season. Before I saw evidence to the contrary, I used to think of this color combination as feeling very electric and even a little bit childish.
I have managed to locate some elegant rooms done in a green and orange color scheme, and they are quite compelling. All of these designs share a playful feeling, but they manage to remain adult because of their textural layers and unique accessories. It also helps when the colors are toned down from their brightest hues. For example, we love the tension created by pairing a cool green with a warm coral.

I like the first picture a lot. My master is green, but we are planning to try some pops of yellow/goldenrod rather than orange.
Huh. Maybe not my favorite trend ever, but I do like the livingroom in pic #2. A muterd green with a deeper orange is kinda pretty.
I had an orange bedroom with green accents a la photo #3 when I was in high school. I loved it!
Orange-White-Green is one of my favorite color combinations, more so because they are the colors of the Indian flag as well :-)
I was never into green as a wall color until I helped a friend paint over her light blue walls with light green. The green "brings in" the foliage outside, gives an incredible sense of greater expansiveness. Now I'm reluctant to use anything BUT green!
However, I can't imagine ever feeling OK with the yellow-greens like in #3 and #5 which I'll euphemistically call pea-soup. Even though these are indeed nice photos and carefully-crafted designs! Eww! Just my opinion though, of course.
I think #1 is so crisp and lovely!
Oooo I love it!!! Great idea
So long as the green doesn't veer toward yellow haha
Green and Orange, my two favorite colors.
Anyone tried painting a door a dark colour like this? I like it a lot. What colour would you use on the walls?
Irish colors. :)
Hmm. I love green and I love orange, and I sometimes love them together, but I can't get into any of these rooms... Except for the second pic, which is a bit busy for me, they all seem too traditional.
I have a secret fantasy of having a citrus-y kitchen done in white, yellow, orange, and green. I think it would feel so fresh and bright. :)
I forgot to say, the friend whose walls we painted green also did her ceiling in tangerine. Both were very light, almost pastel shades and it was unbelievably effective without feeling at all overbearing.
w00t, we already have this implemented in our new bedroom! orange lamp shade, leafy green curtains ... it really brings nature in, as mentioned above. without it, we only see our neighbour's wall and windows.
Woohoo! Orange and green are my two favorite colors (have been for oh...over 10 years at least) and my whole house and, well...life...is orange and green :) Glad to know I'll be trendy for a few months, lol.
this is funny: i first read the article and i was thinking, hm, green and orange, do i like that idea or not? and then i realized: our living room is green (a lovely soft sage green) and we have an orange sofa! we went more of an earth tone route than these rooms to fill out the palette, though.
