We were perusing some online inspirational galleries when we spotted this beauty of an idea. We immediately thought of this post from a while back on using maps as makeshift wallpaper. We love the idea of extending it in to the bathroom.

A map in the bathroom could solve that pesky reading-in-the-bathroom debate. For a quick and dirty version that requires zero wallpapering skills or time, slap a poster size world map or US map up on the wall and mark where you've traveled. Give your guests something interesting to look at that won't have you praying that they've washed their hands...

White Enamel Four-P...
i've always loved this idea...it has the added bonus of being educational! a friend of mine credits his superior knowledge of geography to a large scale wall map he had in his bedroom as a child.
I was just going to do this for my son's bathroom... but was a little worried about splashing issues. Any suggestions?
How about getting a laminated map to prevent water damage?
Now this version is MUCH nicer than the rather shoddy one (the patchwork-wallpaper seemingly made from an entire atlas) we saw a few weeks ago. This is beautifully done. Though, I would personally go for a more satellite view, or even a terrain view rather than this map view.
I've always been a fan, especially being a travel journalist! I am looking for a larger one though, to possible resign this one as a guest bedroom headboard.

Why not apply a clear glaze over the map/wallpaper?
It goes on milky but dries clear - sorta like "Mod Podge" for the walls.
Does anyone know where the sink in that picture is from?
I HAVE THAT!
i have a laminated world map on the wall in my shower. as i listen to npr as i shower, i look to find the locales they mention in their stories. i've become much more geographically aware. :-)
I think a water/weather-centric map would be especially awesome.
heatherleaf -- love the idea of using the map as reference when listening to NPR.
