Names: Molly, Dan, Tuolumne (3) & Warren (18 mo)
Location: Rochester, NY
The kids and I spend A LOT of time outside in our backyard. They play in the (kiddie) pool and sandbox while I weed/garden or read. I made the sandbox and the teepee last year, and they have really made the yard much more child friendly.
I am surprised how daring my son is walking through the plants, that are so much taller than he is, to get to the teepee (made with lots of help from my mom). This year my mom also bought the rubber mats to put under the pool and it really tied the area together, as well as making the pool much more fun (underneath the foam is asphalt, so it was not that comfortable with the soft bottom of the pool.) We also have a couple of swings - a baby swing in the gazebo, which is great because we can swing in the rain - and a round swing hanging from a tree. It really feels like an oasis in a sea of asphalt backyards (parking for the apartments).
Thanks Molly!

Nomade Express Slee...
That does look like a lot of fun! And what pretty lacecap hydrangeas you have, peeking into the bottom of the last photo.
That looks so magical. My daughter would love this!
Looks like fun! May I ask - how do you pronounce "Tuolumne"?
Thanks everyone! We love it. Tuolumne is pronounced 2-all-um-knee or 2-all-um-ee it is an area in CA (a county, river, meadow in Yosemite...) and a native american word.
Putting the rubber mats under and around the pool is genius! I bet it help to keep the pool a little cleaner too. I love the teepee, and I love that your kids obviously play here so much! I think they have a really fun summer ahead of them.
Love it! Where would one find such round swing, I wonder?
Thanks, mollycob! That's a beautiful name!
Judean: The round swing is just a little tikes swing form Toys R Us... an impulse buy.
Sewcharming: I suppose the mats would keep the pool cleaner if my son didn't love throwing sand and dirt into it!
