Daybeds always seem luxurious - not in and of themselves, but the mere fact that you might have room for a daybed seems luxurious. But maybe we're thinking about them all wrong. A daybed is actually one of those multipurpose pieces of furniture that can be useful in small homes - couch-like seating during the day and a bed at night. Pretty perfect for a playroom or kids' room that needs to double as a guest room on occasion.
It's easy enough to just add a few extra pillows to a twin bed to make it into more comfortable seating, but if you only use it once in a while as a guest bed you might prefer it look more like a couch than a bed. If so, we really like quick and easy daybed covers from Bemz (the same folks who offer a myriad of colored and patterned slipcovers for Ikea sofas and chairs).
Bemz daybed covers come in 8 sizes so they'll snuggly fit your mattress as well as two skirt lengths. There are dozens of colors and designs to choose from as well as different types of fabric. Prices vary slightly (by fabric) and are in the $100-150 range.
