Turn A CD Spindle Case Into a Terrarium

If you don't have an old CD spindle case somewhere in your home office, we'd be surprised. We have several that are relegated to holding junk or old CD's that we should probably just get rid of. But if you're looking to add a little extra greenery to your space or just looking for a way to reuse those CD spindles — this DIY project might be for you.

Atomic Shrimp shows us that in just a few easy steps you can transform your own CD spindle into a terrarium-style planter. Keep it on your desk to add a little greenery or even look at it in admiration because you actually reused and repurposed something!

1. Find an unused CD spindle case — the bigger the better.
2. Cut off the central column. If it leaves a hole, make sure you seal it up.
3. Drill a few holes in the top of the lid for ventilation.
4. Find a small pot that will fit easily in the base.
5. Add compost, seeds and water.

We love this DIY project for several reasons: it gives us a reason to repurpose our old CD spindles instead of throwing them into the recycling bin and it's also an extremely easy way to grow our own herbs on our desk! Also, if you have kids, this is a great idea for a school project just like Atomic Shrimp showed us.
